Announcements

In November 2017, Twaweza is convening Democrasia Yetu -- an open dialogue on democracy and civic space in Tanzania. Differing perspectives will be deliberately brought together to challenge each other and try to create space for greater collaboration and cohesion. The event will also serve as a celebration of
democratic spaces and freedoms in Tanzania through arts.
Twaweza and Nafasi Art Space are pleased to announce a Visual Art Competition and Exhibition to coincide with the event. We encourage artists to submit work in any medium (painting, sculpture, photography, video art, and installation) responding to and exploring the theme and topics of the event, which include opening up (transparency versus secrecy), acting together (positive and productive relationships between government and citizens), free exchange (openness to new ideas, constructive critique and unusual partnerships).
Prizes for winning entries will include artist residencies at Nafasi Art Space, and laptops.
Submission requirements
1. Artist Statement.
2. Artist CV with biographical information, education, and selected exhibitions and awards (1 A4 page).
3. 1-3 High-Res images of artwork in response to theme including artwork details (title, year of production, media, and size) by 20 November 2017.
4. Entries must then be delivered in-person to Nafasi Art Space, Mikocheni B, between 13-17 November 2017.
Important: Only submissions in PDF format will be accepted. The PDFs are to be sent by 13 November 2017 to the following e-mail address: asteria@nafasiartspace.org
