Sauti za Wananchi (Voices of Citizens) uses mobile phones to regularly collect information from a broad cross-section of Tanzanian, Ugandan and Kenyan citizens. The initiative allows survey data to be gathered quickly and efficiently, at low cost, to inform citizens of what's going on and to support policy-makers to be more responsive to the needs and aspirations of citizens. Parents perceive a downward trend in the quality of secondary schooling, and largely blame the government and teachers for the decline. These findings were collected through Africa's first nationally representative mobile phone survey, Sauti za Wananchi.

Do health facilities work for people?

Only 1 out of 20 (6%) people over the age of sixty years and 1 out of 5 (18%) children under five years receive free treatment and care at health facilities. Policy states that outpatient services for these two groups are free but citizens report that they are still being charged. Twaweza releases new findings about health facilities.
