In Loving Memory of Herbert Harold Humphrey
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our admired colleague, Herbert Harold Humphrey, on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Herbert’s departure has left a deep void within the Twaweza East Africa family.
He was so much more than a colleague – he was a cherished jewel among us — a shining beacon of laughter, wisdom, generosity, and tireless support for us all. And our favourite supplier of so many, many mangoes!
Herbert’s journey with Twaweza started on December 1, 2017, as a consultant in the Executive Director’s office. His dedication, warmth, and passion for the work quickly endeared him to everyone.
He expanded his duties beyond the legal tasks in the Executive Director’s office to coordinate activities in the Learning and Strategy Unit. Herbert’s professional commitment ran deep. His tireless efforts combined with his beautiful warmth and kindness, left a permanent mark on our organization.
During his illness, Herbert’s faith and spirit remained powerfully strong, and his presence illuminated our corridors. His devotion extended beyond the workplace, as he often shared moments of joy with us, bringing his beautiful wife Pernilla, and his Son Darian, to our staff family get-together moments, so that we could all enjoy their radiating warmth.
As we bid farewell to Herbert, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. In his memory, Twaweza East Africa will be closed on Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24, 2024.
Though Herbert may no longer walk among us, his warm spirit of compassion and selflessness will forever live in our hearts.
Rest in Glory, Herbert
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
