Do you like what we stand for and what we do? Do you have a curiosity and passion to learn? Do you like to push the envelope, take thoughtful risks, innovate, get things done and make change happen in East Africa? We may be a match! To apply, follow the instruction in each job description and follow us on Twitter or Facebook.

Interns play a very important role in Twaweza’s work and we welcome applications from students and recent graduates from East Africa and around the world. We are always looking for new interns to support us in our main areas of work: KiuFunza, Learning and Strategy, Voice (Sauti za Wananchi) and Participation, Advocacy and Engagement ,Partnerships and Operations. Internships are available in our three country offices: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Twaweza internships are normally for three months and can be a maximum of six months.

We encourage applications from skilled and motivated young people to serve as interns. The purpose of the internship is to provide an opportunity for individuals to substantively contribute to and learn from our work. The intern will be given specific tasks and responsibilities and will be challenged to develop their capabilities and gain experience. We are looking for interns who are committed, hard-working, positive, open-minded, reflective and willing to learn.

We seek to find a balance between East Africa interns and those from other countries. We look for a diversity of interests, backgrounds and experiences. At any one time we expect to host between three and five interns.

What we offer

Twaweza does not offer any remuneration for its internships. It offers an exciting work environment, modern office space, lunch and a modest allowance to cover local travel. In some cases we may be able to reimburse costs of visas and vaccinations. The intern is wholly responsible for all other expenses, including health insurance, accommodation and incidentals.
