Twaweza East Africa is a regional civil society organisation working in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. We are seeking a competent and energetic Country Accountant to join our Uganda office.

About the Role

The Country Accountant will lead country-level financial administration, ensuring income and expenditure are managed in line with legal requirements, organisational policies, and internationally recognised reporting standards.

This role is central to maintaining financial integrity, strengthening accountability systems, and supporting sound decision-making within the Uganda office.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Oversee financial operations, including reconciliations and payment validation.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain accurate financial records within Xero and Salesforce.
  • Prepare financial reports to support management decisions.
  • Support audits and maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Oversee asset management and effective resource utilisation.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA (Intermediate Level).
  • At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Experience using accounting packages and cloud-based systems.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and integrity.
